Exfoliating Luffa Bar

The Exfoliating Luffa Bar is a 4 oz body bar with natural luffa fiber running through a glycerin rich soap made from coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, mango butter and hemp extract. The scent comes from tea tree and grapefruit essential oils, nothing else. It is for the body: feet, elbows, knees, shoulders and back, anywhere skin looks rough or dull. Use it a few times a week in the shower, and use it the day before a spray tan for an even base.

Natural luffa is the dried fiber of a gourd. It exfoliates mechanically, buffing away dead surface cells so skin looks smoother and brighter and feels less rough. It is a plant fiber, so it biodegrades, unlike the plastic scrubbers it replaces.

Coconut oil and sodium hydroxide are the soap itself, the cleansing base. Glycerin and sorbitol are humectants that keep the bar from leaving skin feeling stripped after you scrub. Shea, cocoa and mango butter condition, and hemp extract adds to that conditioning. Tea tree and grapefruit essential oils are the entire fragrance profile, listed by name, with no parfum line. Titanium dioxide is a mineral colorant, and that is all it does.

It is not a treatment for any skin condition, and it is too abrasive for your face. Keep it below the neck. Skin feels smoother the first time you rinse, but the look of rough patches on elbows, knees and heels changes over weeks of regular use, so judge it then, not after one shower.

Wet the bar with warm water and work it into a thick lather. Move it over rough areas in light circles, letting the luffa do the work rather than pressing hard. Rinse and follow with a body moisturizer. Keep the bar dry between uses so it lasts. Before a spray tan, use it the day before so the tan goes onto smooth, even skin.
