Vitamin C Super Serum is a water based facial serum built around L-ascorbic acid, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate and 3-glyceryl ascorbate, with ferulic acid and a botanical base of rice, calendula and chamomile extracts, for brighter looking skin and a more even looking tone. It is for the guy who has read that vitamin C is the brightening ingredient with the most evidence behind it and wants the real form, not a derivative dusted in at the bottom of the list. A few drops on clean skin, morning or night, SPF over it in the morning.

L-ascorbic acid is the form of vitamin C with the most research behind it for a brighter looking complexion, and it is the third ingredient on the INCI, after water and propanediol. It is also the least stable form. In water it oxidizes over time, which is why so many brands skip it for a derivative and still call the product vitamin C. Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate and 3-glyceryl ascorbate are two vitamin C derivatives that are more stable in water and gentler on skin than L-ascorbic acid. Having them alongside the pure form means the serum does not depend on a single fragile molecule for the brighter looking result. Ferulic acid is an antioxidant that formulators pair with vitamin C because it helps stabilize it in the bottle.

The botanical base is rice extract for a smoother looking texture, calendula and chamomile flower extracts for a calmer looking skin surface, imperata cylindrica root extract and glycerin for hydration, and jackfruit extract (Artocarpus heterophyllus). No silicone, no mineral oil, no sulfate, no alcohol. There is fragrance on the INCI, listed near the end. It is not a fragrance free serum, and we will not say it is.

It will not erase dark spots, and it will not change your skin in a week. Vitamin C supports a brighter, more even looking tone over weeks of consistent use, and it does its best work with daily sunscreen, since sun exposure is what creates the look of uneven tone in the first place. It also will not stay potent forever. L-ascorbic acid darkens as it oxidizes, so if the serum turns a deep orange or brown, it has passed its best and should be replaced. Apply a small amount to clean, dry skin and massage until absorbed. Use in the morning, at night, or both. In the morning, always follow with SPF. Store the bottle capped tight, away from heat and sunlight, and use it up within a few months of opening rather than letting it sit. If your skin is reactive, patch test first and start with every other day. Vitamin C can tingle briefly on application. If you use a retinol at night, run this in the morning.
