Gentle Balancing Toner

Gentle Balancing Toner is a 6 fl oz toner built on rose water, green tea, chamomile, aloe and allantoin, with no SD alcohol and no added fragrance. It is step two, right after cleansing, for reactive, sensitive or freshly shaved skin. Morning and night, on a cotton pad or misted straight on, before serum and moisturizer.

Rosa damascena flower water is the base after water itself. It is mild, it is where the light rose scent comes from, and it means the formula does not rely on alcohol to feel fresh.

Camellia sinensis leaf extract (green tea) and Chamomilla recutita flower extract (chamomile) are the two calming botanicals. Allantoin is in here for one job, to help skin feel soothed and soft after cleansing. Globularia alypum leaf extract rounds out the botanical set.

Aloe barbadensis leaf juice and glycerin put water back so skin does not tighten up while it dries.

The preservative system is benzyl alcohol at a preservative level, caprylhydroxamic acid, gluconolactone, sodium benzoate and calcium gluconate. Benzyl alcohol is the only alcohol on the list and it is not there to dry your face. Polysorbate-20 keeps the botanicals dispersed. No parfum, no sulfates, parabens, phthalates, mineral oil or silicones.

It will not treat rosacea, eczema or any skin condition, and it is not a moisturizer. What it does is lower the odds that step two is the thing setting your skin off. You will know within two weeks whether the tightness and redness after washing has settled. Judge it in the same mirror, same light, ten minutes after your routine. If you know you react to benzyl alcohol, it is in here as a preservative, so patch test first.

Soak a cotton pad and sweep it across face and neck after cleansing, or mist it straight onto skin and let it sit a few seconds. Follow with serum and moisturizer. Morning and night, and any time skin needs calming down, like right after a shave. If your skin is healing from a procedure, ask whoever performed it before you put anything on it.

No. Tightness is usually SD alcohol, not proof the toner is working. A well built toner leaves skin calm and slightly damp. If yours leaves it tight, look for alcohol denat or SD alcohol near the top of the ingredient list.

Cleanser, toner, serum or treatment, moisturizer, then sunscreen during the day. Toner goes on right after cleansing while skin is still damp, before anything heavier. For sensitive skin the toner step matters more, because it sets how well skin tolerates everything after it.
