Charcoal in a soap does one job well: it lifts oil and grime off your skin. It is not an acne product, and the black color is not proof of anything.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCT
Charcoal Soap is a handcrafted 4 oz bar built on saponified organic palm, coconut, sunflower and extra virgin olive oil, with activated charcoal for a deeper feeling cleanse and peppermint and tea tree essential oils for scent. It is a face and body bar for the guy who wants a proper clean without the tight, stripped feeling most charcoal bars leave behind. It is step one of the routine: cleanse, then toner, then serum, then moisturizer.
THE SCIENCE
Saponified organic oils are the cleansing base, not a detergent. Fair trade palm and coconut oil give the lather and do the cleaning, sunflower and extra virgin olive oil keep the bar from stripping skin. A $6 charcoal bar is usually a detergent base with a pinch of charcoal for color. This is the reverse: real oils as the base, charcoal added for what it does.
Activated charcoal is porous. During a wash it holds onto excess oil and surface debris so they rinse away instead of staying on your face. That is the whole mechanism, and it is a good one.
Peppermint and tea tree essential oils are the only scent in the bar. There is no synthetic fragrance blend. Essential oils are still aromatic compounds, so if your skin reacts to peppermint or tea tree, patch test on your jaw before using it on your whole face.
Not in it: sulfates, parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, silicones or drying alcohol. Vegan, non GMO and gluten free.
WHAT IT WILL NOT DO
It will not clear acne. That is a job for benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or a dermatologist, not a bar of soap. It will not pull toxins out of your pores either, because that is not a thing soap does. What it will do is cleanse well, and you will know inside the first week whether your skin feels clean without feeling tight an hour later. If it feels tight, drop to once a day.
THE STANDARD
Seven ingredients, every one named. No detergent base dyed black, no synthetic fragrance covering a cheap base, no charcoal added for the label instead of the lather. Manufactured in state of the art, FDA registered facilities in the USA, with best in class ingredients. Read the full standard.
HOW TO USE IT
Wet the bar and your skin with warm water, work up a lather in your hands, and wash face and body. Rinse with cool water. Keep the bar dry between uses so it lasts. Once or twice a day. On the face, follow with toner and moisturizer right after. It is non staining, so no gray residue on your sink or towel. Judge it by how your skin feels an hour after washing: clean, not tight.
IS CHARCOAL SOAP GOOD FOR ACNE?
No. Charcoal soap is a cleanser. It lifts excess oil and surface grime and leaves skin feeling clean, and that is where its job ends. Acne is a medical matter that responds to actives like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, or to a dermatologist, not to any bar of soap. Use this as the clean first step in a routine, not as your acne answer.
SHOULD YOU USE SOAP ON YOUR FACE?
A saponified bar built on real oils, like this one, works fine on most men's faces. A detergent bar does not, that is where the tight, squeaky feeling comes from. If your skin runs dry or reactive, start with once a day and see how it feels an hour after washing before you go to twice.
DOES CHARCOAL SOAP ACTUALLY PULL TOXINS OUT OF YOUR SKIN?
Activated charcoal is porous and holds onto oil, dirt and surface debris during a wash so they rinse away. That is the real, documented part. The idea that it draws toxins out from deep in your pores is marketing, not a mechanism. Treat this as a solid cleanser, not a detox product.
WHAT IS THE CORRECT ORDER FOR A SKINCARE ROUTINE?
Cleanser, then toner, then serum or treatment, then moisturizer, then sunscreen during the day. This bar is the cleanse step. How well you do that step decides how well everything after it works, because toner and serum do not sink into a face with a film of oil still on it.
