Two peptides named on the INCI, ceramide NP, retinol and the natural form of vitamin E, in a cream that tells you it is scented instead of hoping you will not read that far.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCT
Anti Aging Moisturizer is a daily face cream built around acetyl octapeptide-3, tripeptide-29, ceramide NP and retinol, formulated to hydrate and smooth the look of fine lines for a firmer, smoother looking complexion. It is for the guy who wants one moisturizer that does the work of a night cream and a day cream instead of a scented lotion in a nicer jar. A small amount on clean, dry skin, morning or night, with SPF over it during the day.
THE SCIENCE
Acetyl octapeptide-3 and tripeptide-29 are two separately named peptides, not a vague "peptide complex" that could be anything at any dose. Peptides are short amino acid chains used in cosmetics for a firmer, smoother looking surface. Retinol is the most studied cosmetic ingredient for the look of fine lines and texture, and it earns the fine lines claim on this jar. It works over weeks, and it raises sun sensitivity, which is why SPF is not optional with this cream.
Ceramide NP is a specific, more expensive ceramide, the kind of lipid the skin barrier is built from, here to support a hydrated, comfortable feeling barrier. d-alpha-tocopherol is the natural form of vitamin E, not the cheaper synthetic dl-alpha most brands default to. Meadowfoam seed oil and shea butter are the emollients, and the emulsion runs on cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate, olive derived emulsifiers, instead of silicones or mineral oil. There is no silicone and no mineral oil on the INCI. There is fragrance, listed near the end. We say so because you should know before you buy, and if your skin is reactive to scent, patch test.
WHAT IT WILL NOT DO
It will not do what a retinoid prescription or an in office procedure does, and it will not change the structure of your skin. It changes how skin looks: more hydrated, smoother, with fine lines less visible. It will not do that in a week. Judge it at 8 weeks, photographed in the same light at the same time of day, and compare the photos, not your memory. If you skip SPF during the day, you are working against it.
THE STANDARD
Every ingredient is on the INCI in order of concentration, including the fragrance. Two named peptides instead of a complex you cannot verify, real ceramide NP, natural vitamin E, no silicone, no mineral oil, no paraben, no phthalate, no fairy dusting of an active to justify the name. Manufactured in state of the art, FDA registered facilities in the USA, with best in class ingredients. Read the full standard.
HOW TO USE IT
Apply a pea to dime sized amount to clean, dry skin. Massage until fully absorbed. Use morning and night. If your skin is new to retinol, start at night only, three or four nights a week, and build to daily as it tolerates it. During the day, apply SPF over it before sun exposure. Take a photo on day one and judge it at 8 weeks, not 8 days.
DOES A MOISTURIZER WITH RETINOL ACTUALLY DO ANYTHING?
Retinol is one of the most studied cosmetic ingredients for smoothing the look of fine lines and supporting a smoother looking complexion over time. It works gradually. Most guys need 6 to 8 weeks of consistent use before the mirror shows it, and it should always be paired with SPF during the day because retinol makes skin more sensitive to sun. It is a cosmetic, so it changes how skin looks, not what skin is.
SHOULD MEN USE A DIFFERENT MOISTURIZER AT NIGHT THAN DURING THE DAY?
Not necessarily. The bigger issue is what goes over it. This cream works morning or night. In the morning, put SPF on top, because retinol raises sun sensitivity. If your skin is new to retinol, start with nights only and add mornings once it is comfortable.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PEPTIDE AND RETINOL IN A MOISTURIZER?
Retinol works over weeks to smooth the look of fine lines and refine the look of texture. Peptides are short chains of amino acids used in cosmetics for a firmer, smoother looking surface. Acetyl octapeptide-3 and tripeptide-29 are two separately named peptides here, and pairing named peptides with retinol covers more of what a fine line looks like than either one alone.
DO MEN ACTUALLY NEED AN ANTI AGING MOISTURIZER OR IS THAT JUST MARKETING?
Anti Aging is the name on the jar, not a promise we make in the copy. What a moisturizer like this does is hydrate, support the skin barrier with ceramide NP and shea, and, with retinol and peptides, smooth the look of fine lines over weeks of use. It stops being marketing once the INCI backs up the box. Read the ingredient list, not the front label, on every cream you consider, including this one.
